GoApril Newsletter

Well, March has gone and April heralds the start of a great spring/ summer of events and activities regardless of your age or ability.

In our latest newsletter, you will find a brief description of all our upcoming events and competitions. For further details and info on any clinics or events, please go to the relevant section of the website. We do try hard to keep changing the content to keep it fresh so please check it out regularly.

Finally, let us hope that the weather will continue to be as kind to us throughout the year as it has in March!!

Richard Waygood Clinic 8th May

The next Richard Waygood jumping clinic will be on the 8th May. This is likely to be held outside on grass (subject to weather conditions not being atrocious). If you would like a session please advise us asap as Richard’s clinics are always extremely popular and become very booked up.

The Richard Waygood lecture/demo that was postponed from the beginning of the year is now being held on Saturday 18th June. This lecture/demo will cover all three phases of eventing and will be both informative and fun. Designed to appeal to all levels of rider; tickets only available to purchase in advance at £15 for adults and £10 for children. Please contact the office for further details.

Dressage Academy

The next dressage academy dates are the 14th April which is suitable for riders new to the German Scales of training and the 21st April for those more experienced with this system. Again, this is very popular but numbers are limited so please book in early enough to avoid disappointment.

We are also looking to hold a fit to ride clinic in the next few months at Barguse.
Some riders may have heard of Jon Pitts who runs this demo but for those not familiar you can check out his website, www.fittoride.org.
These clinics cost £20 per person and typically last for a couple of hours. If you are interested in taking part please let us know as we need at least twenty riders to run it.

Our new Tack shop

Many of you may have noticed that we are currently in mid build of our new tack shop and office! The old one was falling apart and far too small!! Over the next few months we will be gradually filling the tack shop with lots of new stock so if you would like to see any items in there please let us know.

Alternatively, we are able to order most items in within 48 hours so feel free to enquire.
Watch out for the special offers/packages that we are running and if you are a Barguse rider, you can enjoy numerous discounts throughout the year!

Michael Beining Clinic

The next Michael Beining dressage clinic will be held from the 11th – 13th May.
For those riders who have more than one lesson, we can offer a payment plan to help spread the cost of the lessons.
If you are interested in having a session please let us know as soon as possible as we can only fit in so many riders per day! The video/lecture evening is on the 12th May.

Summer Dressage

Our popular summer dressage and jumping competitions commence in May.
Again, these will be run as a series where points will be accumulated over the competitions and the winning riders will each receive a sash, trophy and gift voucher.
There will be categories for both junior and senior riders, so please keep an eye on the website for upcoming dates and full schedules!

Barguse Open Day

Do you know someone who would like to have a go at horse riding but not sure whether to take the plunge and book a lesson?
Well, they have the chance on Monday 25th April. Admission costs £1 for adults and 50p per child.

They’ll be horse/pony rides, bouncy castles, riding demos, face painting and other fun games. All proceeds go to The Barguse Charitable Trust. You can find the flyer with the full details on by checking out the events page in April.

Easter Holidays

We have lots of activities happening over the Easter period from badge mornings to the annual Easter Gymkhana. These events are all aimed at our riding club members and if you would like to take part then please book in by calling the office.

We are also hoping to run a BHS Riding and Road safety course subject to having enough interest. This will run over 6 weeks during the evening. To register your interest and find out further details please contact the office.

Congratulations

Finally, congratulations to Sarah Higman and Wizard of Oz on winning the Puissance at the final Spurs show in March.

It was an extremely close run competition but Sarah managed to hold off the reigning champion, Sarah Penney and take the title. Thanks must go to Spurs for another brilliant competition.
We all look forward to next year!!
